Irene Benjumea sets up the multidisciplinary practice i|b|u in July 2010 after having practiced as an architect and lighting designer in the U.S, UK and Spain. In addition to a broad academic experience, Irene Benjumea has over 9 years of professional experience in practices such as Allende Arquitectos (Madrid), BPI (New York) and SSA (London) where she has directed projects which range from commercial, residential, and cultural, to historic restoration for a wide variety of clients and budgets. In December 2012, Irene Benjumea starts spending half her time in London and expands her practice to the UK.

ARCHITECTURAL TEACHING

Irene Benjumea is currently teaching architecture and architectural lighitng at IED (Istituto Europeo di design) Madrid. She has been invited to participate as a senior  lecturer by ETSAM at the Lighting Design Masters and as an visiting professor in architectural and lighting workshops at the University of East London.
